Career advice

This was one of the highlights of my career!

One of the best moments of my life. I never ever been overseas and when a position came to work @UnileverArabia Dubai came I was like yeah baby I am going. I had never set foot outside South Africa. I am from a small town called Alice, went to a school in Johannesburg and then studied @Rhodesuniversity. Little did I know then the impact this stint would have on me. I worked across the Gulf and worked in UAE, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia – albeit those days I could not travel as a single woman there. I learnt a lot about the different cultures and respect of culture that is different from mine, I met amazing bunch of people Samar Saba Mahmoud Sayedahmed Jorgen Bartsch (who followed me to Dubai from SA 🤣).

I also learnt how to market deodorants in markets where showing skin on advertising was considered taboo. I smoked Shisha, I got sick in Oman and had to be rushed back to Dubai for an almost ruptured appendix. Even 25 years later this remains the highlight of my career. Nothing can beat the experiences one has. Travel the world. Open your mind. That is priceless.
